This is a website for the final project for MA[46]15 Data Science with R by Team Tidy. The members of this team are below.

Shaun Saluja

I’m Shaun. I’m an Indian guy from West Virginia. Ha. I’m interested in sports analytics. And I don’t like introductions. Here is my github profile link: https://github.com/ssaluja23
I contributed to a couple of aspects of the analysis page ranging from EDA of causes on causes of collision to creating a logistic regression model modelling whether or not any specific causes of collision had a significant impact on whether or not a fatality occurs. There were also a couple of other aspects of the EDA that I worked on. Also, I contributed to the Big Picture page, specifically developing some of the recommendations and actionable insights.

Aditi Mittal

Hello everyone, my name is Aditi. I am originally from New Delhi, India, and am double majoring in Economics and Mathematics (Statistics) at Boston University. I am extremely interested in portfolio analyses at firm-level. Here is my github profile link: https://github.com/aditim00
My main contributions can be summarized as follows. Along with my team members, I worked on smoothing out the data page and the EDA involving borough and types of death/injuries. The EDA helped in forming some important conclusions about our dataset which are detailed on the Analysis page. I also aided in compiling the weather data so it could be merged with the original dataset. As the last step to the project, I aided in figuring out the logistics and formatting to get our website up and running, brainstormed on big picture ideas and helped develop some recommendations for the project.

Brad Shulman

Hey everyone, my name is Brad and I’m an Econ/Math major from New York. I’m interested in using data to draw conclusions for various applications, including sports. I am excited to learn R to be able to do more data exploration. Here is my github link: https://github.com/brad21700
I merged the weather dataset with the collision dataset and then conducted EDA on the weather variables. Following this, I coded in a seasons variable into the dataset and conducted EDA on the seasons. I also worked on the big picture page, fleshing out our recommendations in detail. Finally, I recorded the section of the video containing a description of our data and EDA.

Larry Xia

Hi everyone, my name is Larry and I’m a finance/business analytics major at QST minoring in Stats. NBA data is really interesting to me, and its cool to see the how analytics kind of changed the way basketball is played in the NBA. Here is my github link: https://github.com/lxia9
I worked on parts of the Analysis Page, mainly with our EDA involving the relationships between collisions and time of day as well as our final logistic regression model on various factors. I also helped on the write up for the Big Picture Page elaborating on some of the analysis done. Lastly, I handled uploading everything to our Netlify website and the formatting to go along with that.

Insoo Kang

Hi ya’ll, my name is Insoo and I’m double majoring in Economics and Statistics. I’m also interested in sports analytics but recently got into education data. Here is my github profile link: https://github.com/insookang
I was responsible for cleaning the NYC Motor Vehicle Collisions Dataset by filtering the dataset to focus on the specific years that we were looking, renaming variables, dropping unnecessary variables, and various data wrangling procedures. Furthermore, I also conducted some EDA on collision data and created an interactive with both the motor vehicle collisions data and the merged dataset with weather.

Info About this Template.

This is based off a “hello world” example website for the blogdown package. The Eureka theme created originally created by C. Wang and R. Ma and then modified by Dan Sussman who added MathJax support. Thanks to Yihui Xie for putting blogdown together and for providing the Javascript to use MathJax.
